Emanuel Reynoso

Reynoso joined Minnesota United in September of 2020 as a Designated Player from legendary club Boca Juniors after spending his entire career playing in Argentina. 

“El Rey” is the definition of a “game-changer.” The 2022 MLS All-Star has been invaluable to Minnesota, providing a unique creative spark that is virtually irreplaceable. Since Reynoso joined the club in 2020, the Loons are 25-5-5 across all competitions in games in which he contributes a goal or an assist. He is the club leader in assists provided with 35 across all competitions.

In 2022, Rey led the team in goals scored with 10. During the Loons’ 13-game scoring streak from June 19 through August 27, the attacking midfielder tallied eight goals and provided six assists. He had two separate point streaks in which he scored a goal or provided an assist in that time frame: three games from June 29 to July 8 and five games from July 16 to August 27. He led the team in MLS Team of the Week appearances with seven, and was named Player of the Week in Week 21 for the first time after scoring his second brace of the season against D.C. United on July 16. 

Although he only played 13 games regular season games in 2020, Reynoso provided seven assists, one goal, and only played in one loss. The Argentine made MLS history in the 2020 MLS Cup Playoffs, providing three assists in back-to-back playoffs games for the first time in MLS Cup Playoffs history. Reynoso played a role in all eight goals the Loons scored in the postseason, assisting seven and scoring a free kick against Seattle in the Western Conference Final. Reynoso continued his success from his debut season in 2021, leading the team with 10 assists and scoring five goals. 

Rey began his professional career with his hometown team, Club Atletico Talleres, in Cordoba. He made 52 appearances for the club from 2014–2017. He joined Boca ahead of the 2017–18 season, scoring seven goals and adding 12 assists across all competitions, including three goals in Libertadores and two goals and eight assists in Superliga play. Across his career, Reynoso has made key appearances in major competitions such as Copa Libertadores, Copa Argentina and Copa Superliga.

In 2022, Reynoso welcomed his wife Dania and daughter Sofia to Minnesota for the first time. Sofia regularly joins the rest of the Loons children on the field post-game at Allianz Field.
