Maxime Crépeau

PROFILE
A Canadian national team goalkeeper who developed through the Montreal Impact Academy, Maxime Crépeau was acquired by Whitecaps FC in December 2018 in exchange for $50,000 of Targeted Allocation Money (TAM) and Vancouver's natural third round pick in the 2020 MLS SuperDraft. He was signed to contract extension through 2022, with an option for 2023 seven months later.

MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER
2020: Crépeau's second season in Vancouver was cut short when he suffered a fractured thumb at the MLS is Back Tournament in July. He finished with 22 saves in four starts and appearances, including one clean sheet on the road at LA Galaxy's home opener in Week 2. 2019: Crépeau enjoyed a breakout campaign in his first season with Whitecaps FC, recording 114 saves and five clean sheets in his 26 MLS appearances, landing among the league leaders with 71.7 save percentage, and pacing all keepers with 31 catches. He made 16 saves against the San Jose Earthquakes on August 24, setting a new single-game record in the league, en route to winning the 2019 WFC Player of the Year award. He was selected to the MLS Team of the Week three times - Week 11 vs. Portland Timbers (bench), Week 12 vs. Atlanta United FC and at Sporting KC, and Week 25 at San Jose Earthquakes. 2013-18: After becoming the fourth Homegrown player in Montreal Impact club history in March 2013, Crépeau saw his first MLS action in 2017, debuting at New York Red Bulls in July of that year, then making consecutive starts to finish the season at Toronto FC, and versus New England Revolution.

UNITED SOCCER LEAGUE
2018: On loan for the year from Montreal Impact, Crépeau recorded a USL single-season record with 15 clean sheets for Ottawa Fury FC in 31 starts and appearances, en route to winning the 2018 USL Goalkeeper of the Year award. He registered 82 saves at a 72.6 save percentage with a 1.00 goals-against average. ’15-’16: Crépeau spent two seasons on loan to Impact USL affiliate FC Montreal, making 11 starts in 2015, then 19 starts the following year.

CANADIAN CHAMPIONSHIP
2019: Crépeau started both the 'Caps Canadian Championship matches, earning a road shutout in the scoreless draw at Cavalry FC. 2018: Crépeau started all four matches for Ottawa Fury FC, helping his side advance to the semifinal before bowing out to eventual champion Toronto FC. 2017: Crépeau made his Montreal Impact first-team debut against Whitecaps FC at BC Place in the first leg of their semifinal matchup in May. He started all four matches in their Canadian Championship campaign, helping his side to a runner-up finish.

YOUTH
Crépeau developed in the Montreal Impact Academy from 2010 to 2013. Prior to that, he also played with Celtix du Haut-Richelieu from 2008 to 2009.

INTERNATIONAL
Born in raised in Quebec, Crépeau earned his first cap for the Canadian men’s national team in February 2016 in a friendly against the United States. He was on the 2017 Concacaf Gold Cup roster, making a substitute appearance in the 4-2 victory over French Guiana. Crépeau made his debut in the Canadian youth program at 15, and represented his country at the 2011 Concacaf U-17 Championship, 2011 FIFA U-17 World Cup, and 2013 Concacaf U-20 Championships among other competitions, before moving up to the senior squad.

ADDITIONAL NOTES
Crépeau speaks French and English. He crossed paths with Whitecaps FC head coach Marc Dos Santos and goalkeeper coach Yousseff Dahha during his youth with Montreal Impact, and was also a member of the Canada U-20 side at the 2013 Jeux de la Francophonie with WFC assistant coach Phillip Dos Santos serving as head coach. He featured in the MLS Homegrown Game against the Mexican U-20 national side at the 2016 MLS All-Star week.
